Transportation and fuels: looking ahead at aviation

After more than a century since the Wright Brothers took off, we have become accustomed to the conveniences and inconveniences of air transportation. As high speed rail and slower options, like long distance buses and ships, find their place in our transportation future, advanced aircraft will continue to play an important role for the foreseeable future—and they will need to be fuelled!

Our growing global population seems likely to demand more and more rapid transportation over great distances unless technology offers viable alternatives, for example through virtual communication, or we have stay-at-home vacations and greater patience in receiving ordered goods.
