Effects of petroleum hydrocarbons on the nervous system

Recently i t has been claimed that long-term exposure to low levels of petroleum hydrocarbons may impair behaviour and memory. This claim has led t o an appraisal of the effect of these products on the nervous system. CONCAWE has therefore reviewed relevant published literature available up to 1984. This is covered in detail in Part 11. A brief general overview of the subject is provided in Part I.
