Identified Uses of Hydrocarbon Substances – 2025 Dossier Update (Handbook no. 2025/01)

This updated handbook provides an overview of the use patterns of Hydrocarbon substances within the scope of REACH and related regulatory frameworks. It supports Concawe member companies in ensuring consistent and compliant use descriptions across dossiers and alignment with industry best practices.

The review of substance categories has resulted in updates across all major hydrocarbon groups. In particular, the 2025 edition incorporates renewable and co-processed substances—including renewable deoxygenated diesel, co-processed gas oils, and naphthas derived from plant, animal, and recycled plastic feedstocks—ensuring the Handbook reflects both traditional petroleum and emerging low-carbon streams. The revision also includes updated use mappings and descriptors (SU, PC, PROC, ERC) in line with current industrial practices and the latest ECHA guidance.
